ARCHIVE STORIES: SAN MARINO CONGRESS CENTRE

Over the years, we have also worked on contract projects, including the San Marino Congress Centre in Kyiv—a project we are particularly proud of. This venue is part of the larger “Puscha Congress Hotel,” which we fully furnished.

Below is the text from an article published in the Sammarinese magazine Sorpresa in June 2012.

SAN MARINO CONGRESS CENTRE: AN OUTPOST OF THE REPUBLIC OF SAN MARINO IN KIEV

On May 16, 2012, the “San Marino Congress Centre” was inaugurated Ukraine. This multimedia congress centre, equipped with four conference rooms, is part of a larger hotel complex, the “Puscha Congress Centre”, located in Puscha — a green area 15 km from the center of Kyiv, popular as a residential neighborhood and holiday retreat for the city’s inhabitants.

The entire hotel complex housing the “San Marino Congress Centre” was created through the renovation of a former children’s camp, which, during the Soviet era, hosted the Pioniery—roughly equivalent to our Boy Scouts. The entire project was carried out over the past two years by the Sammarinese company MG International Srl, based in Domagnano, which oversaw the design, supply, and installation of interior furnishings for the hotel, restaurants, congress centre, and spa. The work was completed in collaboration with a Ukrainian construction firm appointed by the client, responsible for structural work and systems installation.

The entire Puscha hotel complex has been furnished with designer furniture produced in Italy and San Marino. Today, it features a hotel with 170 rooms in standard, superior, and suite categories, a café (Caffé Glyasse), the Aristokrat restaurant, a banquet hall, a spa, and a congress centre.

The latter — the “San Marino Congress Centre” — was designed and furnished by MG International with particular attention to the acoustics of the rooms. Conceived as a multipurpose venue, it is equipped with a control room, simultaneous translation booths, professional lighting systems, and state-of-the-art audio-visual technology, aligning it with the highest European quality standards. These features make the centre perfectly suited for use as a cinema, theatre, event space, banquet hall, or fashion show venue. The congress centre includes four rooms, each distinguished by a dominant colour: green for the main hall with 195 seats, and orange, blue, and red for the three seminar rooms.

Adorning the walls of the congress centre and the Aristokrat restaurant are large-scale photographs showcasing the artistic and natural beauty of our Republic. These striking images capture the curiosity and interest of guests, serving as both a constant source of inspiration and a lasting form of promotion for our homeland.

The congress centre was dedicated to San Marino by its owners — a major Ukrainian investment group, which also includes a bank among its holdings. During a business visit to the Republic, they had the opportunity to admire the undeniable beauty of our country (“kak skazka” — “like a fairy tale,” exclaimed the wife of one of the Ukrainian partners upon seeing the crenellated city walls). Moved by the experience, they chose to dedicate the congress centre to the Republic of San Marino.

Massimo Gardini, Commercial Director and majority shareholder of MG International, stated with satisfaction:
“It was a very stimulating project that, over these two years, absorbed much of our energy. In addition to the design and supply of furnishings — where we aimed to meet the Ukrainian client’s wishes in terms of design and technology, we also managed the construction site and dealt with the understandable communication challenges caused by language and cultural differences between our technicians and the Ukrainian staff.
Today, I am pleased to see that we succeeded in doing a good job, and when the Ukrainian client informed us of their decision to dedicate the congress centre to the Republic of San Marino, I was, of course, proud.”
